You should know what era you're looking for. Anything new won't come up in the online registers as it is not publicly available.
This includes (amount of years after even was registered)
- birth, 100 years
- marriage, 75 years
- death, 50 years
Netherlands has several resources, most of oriented per region. The archives of Rotterdam hold Rotterdam and most of the surrounding areas, however not all has been digitalised yet! They still working on it. Genlias.nl collects and binds the information of most the regions as a central archive. Rotterdam is also included in Genlias.
Up to 1950 most members of Stok are born in Rotterdam. Also keep in mind that local goverment only register from
1811. If you go before 1811 you need to look into the registers made DTB registers, these go back till 16the century. Before that you need Church birth books. These are usually not online.
I also have several Leendert Stok in my heritage, and must say that registration is a mess. Probally due to the bombing in second world war of Rotterdam Center. They lost alot of archives then.
You can also import your tree in
www.myheritage.nl and try smart matching.. There are several people there with stok in their tree.
Hope this helps with your search.
