Groet,

Dear Jackie,

Do you know that there is a very large branch of the Lemmens familie thus the Nielen family living in and around Greenbay, Wisconsin. There is a small museum there in De Pere and that is where I found a deathcard of Henry Lemmens born in Venray, Netherlands, who came to Greenbay around 1860 with his first wife who died after a couple of years without issue. He then married a Dutch 16 year old girl and had about ten children.

Regards from Wadhurst, East Sussex,

Gerard lemmens

If you want their descendants please contact me.

Sincere regards,

Gerard Lemmens

Hell Jackie,
Do you know that the name Nielen should really be - Lemmens - and hence it is a branch of my familie which originates from Sint Anhtonis ?!
I still do not know why they dropped the name Lemmens may be a reason was that they decent from the couple Nicolaas Jans Lemmens who married a second cousin- Johanna Jans Lemmens for which marriage they had to obtain dispensation from the Bisschop of Roermond. So they both had the surname Lemmens ! Only one of the (unmarried) sons of this couple continued using the name Lemmens, the others called themselves Nielen, which is derived from the first name Nicolaas.
In the publication about Andries Nielen, you will find a genealogy at the end of the book and there are the first generations of the Lemmens family shown. I published a book about my Lemmens family in 1989 for my parents 60th wedding anniversary.
So Jackie we are far away related !!
I wonder if you want more information ? In that case may be Rien Wols might oblige by exchanging our e-mail addresses as I now do not like to make mine public as then I was hacked on my computer several years ago twice??

Sincere regards from Wadurst, a little village in East Sussex in good old England,
Gerard Lemmens

I have some photos taken by Andries Nielen . His brother Gerhard Nielen was my Great Great Grandfather. The photos are tattered and torn. The photos were of Gerhards family. Some of the photos were of my grandmother and her siblings on the farm in Wisconsin. I would like to buy any books of Andries photos so I can maybe have a few photos of my grandmother in her youth and hopefully in better condition.
